Reflection:
This unit on talent management was both a refresher and skills enhancement for me. While many of the basic concepts were topics I have experienced in my career, I learned some valuable skills as well. I now know that I enjoy creating attractive and engaging job postings, especially for service jobs. I can easily project a company’s culture through words. Through captivating the target audience, I can increase the job pool of potential candidates.
Most importantly, I learned new and better ways to review resumes and interviews through concepts that standardize the process. By selecting specific job requirements and defining the desired qualifications for each, I can create a more reliable and fair selection process. This standardized process will help me reduce or eliminate bias throughout the search for talent and select the best candidate for the job. This new step was eye opening and was the highlight of this unit. I cannot wait to have the opportunity to use these skills again.
I am better prepared for the future through the knowledge built in this unit. All of this is made easier through researching and writing an engaging job posting to attract the right candidate, researching/selecting the correct desirable qualifications, recording review results, and analyze the data during the talent acquisition process. In the job in a public sector, these processes will benefit the overall company through systematic processes and good record keeping.
